Ponyboy, Johnny are met up with Dally and he takes them to go get something to eat at Dairy Queen and start to discuss what they are going to do and what is happening to everyone else.
dally showed up in a car and gave them some money to get out of tow and go to a different city and find an apartment and don,t even peek your head out of the window until he got back into town.
Johnny, Darry, and Ponyboy are in a church because they ran away when Dally hit Ponyboy and "J.C." are out getting supplies when Ponyboy's overactive imagination kicks in and worries him then he gets over it.
In chapter 5 Dally comes and finds Pony Boy and Johnny. So when Pony Boy woke up Dally was there. Dally brought Pony Boy a message from Soda Pop saying that how he found out that Johnny killed someone and how Darry didn't mean to hit you and was awful sorry. Then Pony Boy and Johnny found out that the Socs and the Greasers are having a all-out-war fare all over the city. Lastly, Pony Boy and Johnny find out that they have a spy and it is Cherry.
In chapter 5 they talk about how Ponyboy and Johnny are in the church after Johnny killed Bob, a soc. They also talk about how Dally came and talked to them on how he tricked the cops and told them that they were headed for Texas. Lastly, Dally took them to Dairy Queen to talk more about whats happening and to eat.
In chapter 5, Ponyboy and Johnny fall asleep in the church. When Ponyboy woke up, he realized Johnny was gone, but then realized he went out for supplies as seen on the note left in the dirt. Then, Dally shows up and tells Ponyboy about his family and the note the Sodapop left him. After their encounter with Dally, they head to Dairy Queen. They head back to the church and play poker with each other.
Dally goes to the church where Ponyboy and Johnny are staying and brings some money with him to give to them and came with a car. Then they cut their hair so they don't look like Greasers and after that go to Dairy Queen for something to eat, to discuss what they are going to do next.
In chapter 5, Ponyboy and Johnny were at the church because they didn't want to get caught and sent to jail for Johnny's murder. Ponyboy was sleeping, and he woke up in late afternoon, and noticed that Johnny was missing. Then, he heard a whistle, a whistle used by the greasers that means, "Who's there?". He ran to the door, and fell at Johnny's feet. He told him that he went shopping. Ponyboy looked in the bag and found peroxide. He knew what was going to happen; they were going to cut their hair. After they cut and bleached their hair, Ponyboy was upset because he didn't like that his long hair was gone. Then four or five days passed, and Ponyboy woke up, and went outside to smoke. Johnny then came out, and Ponyboy remembered a poem he read once, and told it to Johnny. A little later, Johnny and Ponyboy fell asleep, and then Dally came. Dally told Ponyboy that Soda wrote him a letter, and gave it to him. In the letter, Ponyboy figured out that Soda found out everything that had happened. Then, Dally told them that Cherry was the new spy of the group/gang.

Than Ponyboy fell asleep and Johnny went to get some thing to eat and things to cut their hair . After that they both cut each others hair and Johnny bleached Ponyboy's. A little later they both fell asleep and when they woke up Dally was there. Dally told them that that Soda had written them a note. And he also send Ponyboy half hes check.
Before chapter five they killed a person, Bob. They are trying to get out of town so they won't get caught. So, in chapter five Ponyboy wakes up really late because he was really tired from the day before. He found Johnny's note in the sand, he was going to get supplies (food.) He came back, and then Dally came!!! They went to his car to eat out, then they found the church on fire. They went to the church and saved kids. While all of them ( Ponyboy, Johnny, Dally.) got hurt. Ponyboy just had a burn and bruises/ concussion probably. Dally got hurt pretty badly, bad burns and typical bruises. But, Johnny, he got the worst.... He got his back like, broken. He had huge, horrible burns. They were rushed to the hospital. Ponyboy's brothers came, made up and waited for results from the doctor for the two other guys. While that was happening, Sodapop and Darry had a fun time in the lobby!!!
Pony boy woke up and Johnny was at the store buying supplies for them. Johnny had brought a pair of scissors and bleach along for the supplies. They cut their hair and Pony boy bleached it. Dally arrived at the church and took them to Dairy Queen to eat. While they were their Dally gave Pony boy a letter from Soda pop. Pony boy was surprised because he didn't tell Soda pop where they were going and who was helping them.
In chapter five they are basically running away and living in a abandon church Ponyboy eventually woke up from the long night he had and decideds to eat out with Johnny and Dally so they are going to eat and they notice a church being on fire so Pony goes into the place to save the rest of the kids in there as Pony gets in Johnny follows so they get every kid out and johnny has the last one when the kid goes flying out the place they got in and Johnny gets crushed and badly burned they then end up in the hospital Dally is burnt to because he had to grab Johnny and get him safe so he is in the hospital while Pony is almost fine he had a few small burns but nothing major.
