Chapter 3

In chapter 3, Ponyboy states to Cherry, "It’s okay… We aren’t in the same class. Just don’t forget that some of us watch the sunset too."  Talk about what you think Ponyboy and/or the author meant by this statement.

  1. What Ponyboy was saying is that just because they are in different social classes doesn't mean we don't need or want the same things.

  2. Ponyboy means that just because he is a greaser and Cherry is a Soc, doesn't mean that we look at things differently because we are different from each other.

  5. What Ponyboy/ the author is trying to say is that just because we are two different people does not mean that we look at things differently because we are so different from each other. That is what i think the author/Ponyboy is trying to get at.

  9. Ponyboy meant that he doesn't want Cherry to forget that Ponyboy is still there even though they won't see each other. Also it shows that just because they're in two different areas that they can do the same thing.

  16. Ponyboy/the author meant that even though Cherry is a Soc and Ponyboy is a greaser they still are humans. Even if someone is "better" than the other person, they still are the "same." We all need water, air, food, and we all kind of have the same likes and dislikes. Ponyboy was also meaning, some/most of the greasers and the socs are the same, they like and dislike the same stuff.
